Child Protective Services “Christmas Wishes” www.christmaswishproject.com Our organization is a small group of friends who gather each year with little or no fanfare to make Christmas wishes come true for the special Tarrant County Foster children in our community. We are a not for profit 501.C3 organization. We have a simple concept and a "no frills" budget with 100% of funds raised going towards the purchase of toys. Throughout the last 22 years our creativity and dedication has made it all work for the original mission. Once a volunteer becomes involved in this massive undertaking they become true believers.
Alliance for Children Christmas Wish www.allianceforchildren.org Each year, Alliance For Children assists hundreds of children and their families during the holidays by providing clothing, shoes, toys, & stockings. Local businesses, civic organizations, & individuals agree to “adopt” a family and provide clothing and toys for each child in the family. Alliance For Children staff provide participating organizations with detailed information regarding a family’s needs and attempt to match the organization’s level of commitment to the needs of the family. Available families vary in size from 2 members to 12+ members. Due to the confidential nature of our business, participating organizations are not provided with family names, phone numbers, or addresses. The organization agrees to deliver the donations to an Alliance For Children center in early December. Alliance For Children distributes the items to the families. Organizations may choose to provide more for a family if they have the available resources and may also adopt more than one family. Groups have the option of providing filled, age-appropriate, stockings, host a toy drive, or host a wrapping paper drive to assist with the program.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund www.jdrf.org JDRF is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes. It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.
